The last two seasons, we have seen an explosion in power as home-run totals have risen in consecutive seasons for the first time in a very long time. So far in 2017, the league is slightly ahead of last year's alarming pace as a home run has been hit every 32.62 plate appearances compared to 32.9 in 2016. The league-wide home run to fly ball ratio was 11.4 percent when this trend began in 2015, but was 12.8 percent last year and is there again this year.
