RotoWire Fantasy Analysis
Johnson will face Junior Albini in a heavyweight battle at UFC on FOX 25 on July 22 in Long Island, MMAFighting.comreports.
Johnson has an 11-3 record (3-2 UFC) with his last four fights ending in decision. He alternates fighting styles, but can always lean on his wrestling as a two-time Division II All-American wrestler. He will enter his sixth UFC fight as the No. 12-ranked heavyweight in the UFC after a win over Daniel Omielanczuk in March (spilt decision).

Fantasy AnalysisThis was all about size for Johnson. At range, Omielanczuk was the better fighter. He was able to land with hard hooks and kicks. However, Johnson was able to close the distance and hold his opponent against the cage whenever he wanted. He did his best work in the second round when he scored a takedown. The rest of the fight was just a grinding clinch battle, and Johnson was better in that department. He has now gone 3-2 in the UFC and might take a step up in competition.
Fantasy AnalysisDespite a narrow, split-decision loss to Alexander Volkov in his last fight, Johnson has recently surfaced in the UFC rankings as the No. 14-ranked heavyweight. He's 3-2 during his time in the UFC -- the exact same mark as his opponent over his last five fights. Although Omielanczuk should enter as a slight favorite, the winner here should get the right to face a top-10 heavyweight.
Fantasy AnalysisJohnson did a good job of mixing his wrestling with his striking. He punches are not the prettiest thing, but when an opponent has to worry about takedowns, he can be effective. After catching some hard shots early, Johnson landed some hard strikes at the end of round one and nearly finished the fight. He began to run out of gas at the end of the fight, but Volkov could not finish him. This was a tough decision, since Johnson seemed to have at lease a case to win each round. He is now 3-2 in the UFC.
Fantasy AnalysisJohnson needed to win, but he didn't so himself any favors with his effort. It was another lackluster performance, albeit one that resulted in a victory. Johnson has a halfway decent all-around game, but he doesn't excel in any one area and in a day and age where the UFC is cutting talented heavyweights for their boring style of fighting, Johnson needs to be more aggressive hunting the finish. The big man is now 2-1 in his first three UFC bouts, but he better try to make a bigger statement in his next fight.
Fantasy AnalysisJohnson blitzed Shamil Abdurakhimov in his UFC debut last April before falling into a typical snooze fest orchestrated by Jared Rosholt. Johnson lost that fight via unanimous decision. Johnson has a nice all-around game, but it is imperative that he stays off of the mat against a guy with the submission skills of Tybura. There are more than a handful of heavyweights on the UFC roster who are nothing more than roster depth. Johnson is by no means a threat to the top guys moving forward, but there are quite a few big men in the UFC that he should be able to beat.
Fantasy AnalysisKnowing that he needed a finish, Johnson was pummeling Rosholt on the feet with about 25 seconds left, but then inexplicably went for a takedown. The end result was Rosholt tying his hands up and finishing off a unanimous decision win. It was just Johnson's second professional loss as a pro. He's definitely going to get another fight in the UFC. The heavyweight division isn't exactly deep these days.
Fantasy AnalysisJohnson does have a solid wrestling background, but it seems doubtful that he can handle the grappling game of Rosholt, who is a former Division I All-American wrestler. Johnson is coming off a very nice first-round TKO win over Shamil Abdurakhimov in his UFC debut, but Rosholt is a definite step up in competition. We will see if Johnson can rise to the occasion on Saturday night.
Fantasy AnalysisJohnson made his UFC debut in March and is coming off a very impressive first-round TKO win over Shamil Abdurakhimov. A former Division II All-American wrestler, Johnson will be facing another elite wrestler in Rosholt.
