Injuries

Warlley Alves    UFC    Middleweight
Alves had to back out of UFC Fight Night 110 against Kiichi Kunimoto on June 11 due to injury.

Fantasy Analysis

The late injury is bringing Zak Ottow to New Zealand for the welterweight fight. Ottow has a 1-1 overall record against Kunimoto, who hasn't fought in over two years. It is unknown just how severe Alves' injury is and how long he is expected to be out, but the UFC should update his status in the coming months.
Michael Bisping    UFC    Middleweight
Bisping (knee) won't be ready for a fight any time soon, but is holding out hope that he will still be able to fight Georges St-Pierre in his return, Damon Martin of Fox Sports reports.

Fantasy Analysis

Bisping and St-Pierre had been tentatively scheduled to face off for the UFC Middleweight Championship on July 8 in Las Vegas, which would have headlined the UFC 213 card during International Fight Week. Recently, however, St-Pierre has said he wouldn't be ready until November, which led to UFC President Dana White calling the bout off and deciding that Bisping would instead defend his title against No. 1 contender Yoel Romero. It's now Bisping that needs the extra time, calling GSP's request for a delay a "blessing in disguise." According to Bisping, his recent knee injury has left him unable to train entirely, and he won't be ready to fight any time soon. Surely, Bisping much prefers a fight with GSP, as he stands to make more money due to name recognition, and will be facing a smaller fighter who hasn't seen the Octagon for nearly four years. Romero, on the other hand, is a dangerous fighter in the middleweight division with plenty of momentum, and poses a significant risk to Bisping's belt.
Antonio Rogerio Nogueira    UFC    Light Heavyweight
Nogueira will no longer face Ilir Latifi at a UFC Fight Night in Oklahoma City on June 25, Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com reports.

Fantasy Analysis

It seems like the 41-year-old's age is starting to catch up to him, as he'll have to sit out for another fight. It seems like the beginning of the end to the hall-of-famer's career, which has been spiraling downward lately with a 1-3 record in his last four fights.
Tom Breese    UFC    Welterweight
Breese disclosed via his personal Twitter account that he underwent his second ACL surgery this week.

Fantasy Analysis

Breese went under the knife this week for his second ACL procedure in the span of three and a half years. The fighter is hopeful of a return after what will most likely be at least a year of rehabilitation. The 25-year-old still has plenty of years in his prime to bounce back in the UFC's welterweight division, though trusting his surgically-repaired knee will be a process.
Christian Colombo    UFC    Heavyweight
Colombo and Damian Grabowski will no longer face off at UFC Fight Night 109 on May 28 in Stockholm.

Fantasy Analysis

Colombo was originally set to meet Damian Grabowski in the Octagon for the opening fight of UFC Stockholm. However, due to injuries sustained by both heavyweight fighters, their bout has been cancelled. As of Tuesday, there is no word of a replacement for the bout.
Damian Grabowski    UFC    Heavyweight
Grabowki and Christian Colombo will no longer be fighting at UFC Fight Night 109 on May 28 in Stockholm.

Fantasy Analysis

Grabowski was scheduled to face off with Christian Colombo in the opening fight of UFC Stockholm. However, both heavyweights sustained injuries that make them unable to compete. A replacement for the fight is unknown as of Tuesday, though the promotion could elect to move on without it.
Emil Meek    UFC    Welterweight
Meek with no longer be fighting Nordine Taleb at UFC Fight Night 109 on May 28 in Stockholm due to an undisclosed injury, Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com reports.

Fantasy Analysis

Meek's second UFC fight was set against Nordine Taleb but due to an undisclosed injury, the promotion announced Tuesday that he will not be fighting in Stockholm. The injury sustained and his return date are not yet known. Taleb will now be facing newcomer Oliver Enkamp at the event.
Cody Garbrandt    UFC    Bantamweight
Garbrandt's back injury could make it difficult for him to compete at UFC 213 against T.J. Dillashaw on July 8 in Las Vegas, Fox Sports reports.

Fantasy Analysis

Garbrandt traveled to Germany this weekend for treatment on a back ailment. The bantamweight fighter had been pushing through severe pain during training, but only time will tell how his body responds to the treatment. Dana White states the matchup in July is still on and he believes Garbrandt will fight. However, Garbrandt seems to be up in the air about it as of Friday, as shown via now-deleted posts from his personal Twitter account that implied the fight was off. The UFC is undoubtedly exploring replacement options behind the scenes, just in case Garbrandt is eventually forced to withdraw.
Kelvin Gastelum    UFC    Middleweight
Gastelum (suspension) will fight Chris Weidman at FOX UFC Fight Night on July 22 in New York, Damon Martin of FOX Sports reports.

Fantasy Analysis

In what will be his return from a controversial "violation" of the sport's anti-doping policy, Gastelum will look to extend his three-match winning streak against a fighter in Weidman who's currently on a three-fight losing streak. Look for Gastelum to come out with a vengeance after having his victory over Vitor Belfort -- which he clearly earned -- overturned to a no-contest.
Jon Jones    UFC    Light Heavyweight
Jones (suspension) will fight Daniel Cormier for the light heavyweight title at UFC 214 in Anaheim on July 29, Damon Martin of FOX Sports reports.

Fantasy Analysis

Jones, who's currently suspended from competition due to a drug policy violation, will officially be eligible to step back in the Octagon in July and this matchup with Cormier will mark his first taste of live action since April of 2016. Cormier, on the other hand, is fresh off his title defense against Anthony Johnson at UFC 210 this past April, where he won in impressive fashion and will look to keep it rolling against Jones, the only man Cormier has lost to in his career.
Joseph Benavidez    UFC    Flyweight
Benavidez announced a torn ACL as the reason for not fighting Ben Nguyen at UFC Fight Night in New Zealand, Damon Martin of Fox Sportsreports.

Fantasy Analysis

Benavidez recently backed out of his flyweight matchup against Ben Nguyen without disclosing why. On Wednesday, Benavidez announced a torn ACL as the reason. The injury will result in a long recovery for the fighter, who had hoped to get back in the cage as quickly as possible.
Henry Cejudo    UFC    Flyweight
Cejudo has been forced out of Saturday's UFC 211 fight against Sergio Pettis due to a hand injury, Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com reports.

Fantasy Analysis

Cejudo had been scheduled to kick of Saturday's pay-per-view card against the No. 6-ranked UFC flyweight Sergio Pettis, but a hand injury will render him unable to fight. Per Shaheen Al-Shatti of MMAFighting.com, a middleweight matchup between Krzysztof Joko and David Branch will take the fight's place on the main card.
Michael Page    Bellator    Welterweight
Page (knee) has withdrawn from his May 19 fight against Derek Anderson at Bellator 179, The Telegraph's Gareth A. Davis reports. "I've fought through stuff my whole career and it would take a whole lot for me to pull out of a fight this close to it happening. This is how I make my living, so even longer of a layoff does me no good. When he gets rebooked, it better be against me and I want it to happen as soon as possible," Page remarked.

Fantasy Analysis

Page recently hurt his knee in training but the extent of his ailment isn't clear. Considering he is observedly upset to not be able to take part in what would have been the 12th fight in his undefeated MMA career, this injury might be serious if it's preventing him from competing. With this fight off the docket, the Liam McGeary vs. Linton Vassal bout was promoted to the co-main event while Dan Vinni vs. Alex Lohore moved up into the main card.
Joseph Benavidez    UFC    Flyweight
Benavidez suffered an undisclosed injury and will not be able to fight Ben Nguyen at UFC Fight Night on June 10.

Fantasy Analysis

Benavidez says that he will work to come back as quickly as he can, but the timeline remains unclear for when he can get back in the Octagon. UFC has not announced if it has found a replacement to fight Nguyen or if the fight will be moved off the card.
Edson Barboza    UFC    Lightweight
Barboza will not have a fight booked in the immediate future, as he is dealing with an undisclosed injury, Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com reports.

Fantasy Analysis

Barboza was once considered the logical candidate to welcome former WSOF fighter Justin Gaethje to the UFC Octagon, but an injury will halt those plans. Instead, a fight between Gaethje and Michael Johnson is in the works. Barboza, the UFC's No. 5-ranked lightweight, is in consideration for a title shot after racking up three straight wins, but he likely needs another victory over an opponent ranked ahead of him in order to cement that opportunity.
CB Dollaway    UFC    Middleweight
Dollaway will face Ed Herman in a middleweight fight at TUF: Redemption Finale on July 7 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Fantasy Analysis

Dollaway sustained a back injury in a faulty elevator back in December. This fight against Ed Herman, also previously injured (undisclosed), will be his first time in the cage since 2015. He does maintain a 16-5 record with an 83 percent takedown defense, which he will need against Herman, who prefers a wrestling style.
Ed Herman    UFC    Middleweight
Herman will face CB Dollaway in a middleweight matchup at TUF: Redemption Finale on July 7 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Fantasy Analysis

Herman dropped out of UFC 209 in March due to an injury (undisclosed) but will be returning to compete against CB Dollaway, also previously injured (back), at TUF Finale. The veteran maintains a 23-12 (1 NC) record with 13 submissions, but has a 3-4 record since 2013. The 36-year-old averages 2.75 takedowns landed every 15 minutes.
John Lineker    UFC    Bantamweight
Lineker is looking to rejoin the UFC in late July after jaw surgery, Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com reports.

Fantasy Analysis

Lineker suffered a broken jaw in his bout against T.J. Dillashaw last December. After surgery, the fighter was required by Nevada Athletic Commission to sit out for six months while recovering unless medically cleared earlier. In a recent report, Lineker stated that his recovery is going well and he's looking to get back in the cage near the end of July. He is currently ranked fourth in the bantamweight division but does not have a fight scheduled as of Friday.
Kelvin Gastelum    UFC    Middleweight
Gastelum reached a plea agreement with the Brazilian MMA Sports Court that will suspend him 90 days, fine him 20 percent of his purse, and change his win over Vitor Belfort to a no-contest, Marc Raimondi of MMAFighting.com reports.

Fantasy Analysis

Gastelum's career had been surging until a recent bout of severely bad luck. He was flagged and provisionally suspended by USADA following a positive test for cannabinoid metabolites, which are not permitted in competition above a certain threshold. Thoughts on cannabis as a "performance-enhancing substance" aside, having it in your system above a 150 ng/ml threshold is against the rules. The lapse in judgement will hit him in the wallet and keep him from competing for a short time, but arguably the toughest part for Gastelum is having to relinquish a victory that he clearly earned. Belfort was far from competitive in the win that was overtuned, and it's tough to argue that the banned substance played any role in that win. Gastelum will be forced to accept this penalty, but at 25 years old, it hopefully won't have an effect on the rest of his career. He's a promising middleweight on a three-fight winning streak.
Todd Duffee    UFC    Heavyweight
Duffee will try to rejoin the MMA fight scene this November after shoulder surgery, Mike Bohn of MMAJunkie.com reports.

Fantasy Analysis

Duffee underwent shoulder surgery nearly two months ago and is anxious to start training again. He maintains a 9-3 career record (3-2 UFC) and his debut knockout of Tim Hague in seven seconds from strikes is still the fastest knockout in UFC heavyweight history. However, since joining the UFC in 2010, Duffee has battled injuries and medical ailments that have led to an inconsistent fight schedule. He will be looking to get back into the cage this November, over two years after his last fight against Frank Mir (loss-KO/TKO punches) in July 2015.
Germaine de Randamie    UFC    Featherweight
De Randamie (hand) is unlikely to fight at UFC 214 on July 29 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Ariel Helwani of MMAFighting.com reports.

Fantasy Analysis

De Randamie has been dealing with a nagging hand injury, which has led her to consider surgery in advance of a rumored fight against Cris Cyborg. It is unlikely that "The Iron Lady" will be able to compete in what could have been her first title defense this July. Instead, De Randamie could be pushed back until the fourth quarter of 2017. If that turns out to be the case, the UFC may force her to vacate her featherweight championship.
Ronaldo Souza    UFC    Middleweight
Souza underwent pectoral surgery Thursday, Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com reports.

Fantasy Analysis

Souza suffered a pectoral rupture during his surprise loss to Robert Whittaker at UFC on FOX 24 back on April 15, and this procedure is expected to correct the issue long-term. In a statement issued by Souza, the middleweight contender stated "I'm feeling relieved. I'm already recovering well, and I'll move one step at a time towards my comeback to training and to the Octagon. I'll be back soon, stronger and even hungrier to fight." A timeline for his return won't be determined until after he begins physical therapy, but for perspective, NFL players that suffer this type of injury typically need a five-to-six month recovery period. The 37-year-old risked a lot by accepting his latest fight against Whittaker, and it burned him in a big way, both in terms of health and his quest for the belt.
Fabio Maldonado    Other    Light Heavyweight
Maldonado will be sidelined for three months after suffering a laceration in his right wrist, Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com reports.

Fantasy Analysis

Maldonado was involved in a home accident on Saturday during which he fell on a glass door and gashed his wrist, cutting an artery. Luckily, the light heavyweight fighter quickly underwent surgery is in recovery. Maldonado last fought in March of 2017, beating Abdul-Khamid Davlatov via TKO in a 220-pound catchweight bout.
Warlley Alves    UFC    Middleweight
Alves is scheduled to fight Kiichi Kunimoto at UFC 110 on June 11 at the Vector Arena in New Zealand, Danny Segura of MMAFighting.com reports.

Fantasy Analysis

Alves is on a two-fight losing streak since beginning his career with an unblemished 10-0 record. His last defeat came in Nov. 2016, when he lost a unanimous decision to Kamaru Usman at UFC Fight Night 100. Kunimoto, who's now 35 years old and hasn't stepped foot in the octagon in over two years, could be exactly what Alves needs to get back on track.
Jon Jones    UFC    Light Heavyweight
Jones could potentially be granted a title fight by UFC when his suspension for a failed drug test ends this summer, Brett Okamoto of ESPN reports.

Fantasy Analysis

Roughly one week ago it seemed that Jones wouldn't even have a chance at a main event upon his return, and now the tide has completely turned and it's possible he'll be put on the biggest stage immediately. Of course, if this happens, it means Jones would be facing Daniel Cormier, who currently holds the light heavyweight belt. However, if that doesn't materialize, UFC president Dana White is penciling a matchup between Cormier and Jimi Manuwa sometime this summer, while Bones gets a "tuneup" fight in the meantime.
