The most recent UFC fantasy MMA news from RotoWire.

Joe Proctor    UFC    Lightweight
Proctor lost to Bryan Barberena via TKO (punches and knees) at 3:30 of Round 1 at UFC 108 in Nashville on Saturday.

Fantasy Analysis

Proctor made it clear that he wanted to stand and trade with Barberena the first time the two exchanged leather, and he got his wish, catching a left hook before being finished by knees and punches on the ground. Proctor has now been TKO'd in impressive fashion in each of his last two fights. He holds an 11-5 record in professional MMA as a result of the loss.
Michael McBride    UFC    Lightweight
McBride lost to Scott Holtzman via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 26-30) at UFC Fight Night 108 in Nashville on Saturday.

Fantasy Analysis

McBride stands straight up and keeps his hands low, which was a perfect recipe for Holtzman to continually land big shots. McBride's toughness carried him through, and while he landed some decent volume, it never seemed like he had the ability to hurt his opponent. McBride has now lost his first two fights in the UFC, and falls to 8-3 in professional MMA.
Scott Holtzman    UFC    Lightweight
Holtmzman defeated Michael McBride via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-26) at UFC Fight Night 108 in Nashville on Saturday.

Fantasy Analysis

Holtzman landed his big right hand multiple times in the contest, and frequently maintained top position when the fight went to the ground. McBride's toughness was the only thing keeping this fight from being finished, as Holtzman teed off on his opponent for the better part of three rounds. Holtzman moves to 10-2 in professional MMA as a result of the victory.
Cindy Dandois    UFC    Bantamweight
Dandois lost to Alexis Davis via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night 108 in Nashville on Saturday.

Fantasy Analysis

Dandois was scoring takedowns at will in this fight, but gave away a few positions to Davis that resulted in deep submission attempts. Dandois had a good showing in her UFC debut, but she needs to improve her striking in a big way if she wants to become a contender in the women's bantamweight division.
Alexis Davis    UFC    Bantamweight
Alexis Davis defeated Cindy Dandois via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night 108 in Nashville on Saturday.

Fantasy Analysis

It was strange that Davis couldn't take over the fight standing against such a rudimentary striker, but the 32-year-old was able to sweep from the bottom and lock up submissions in frames one and three to take home the victory. Davis is 2-2 in her last four fights dating back to 2014, and holds an 18-7 record in professional MMA.
Bryan Barberena    UFC    Welterweight
Barberena defeated Joe Proctor via TKO (punches and knees) at 3:30 of Round 1 at UFC 108 in Nashville on Saturday.

Fantasy Analysis

Barberena and Proctor traded punches to start, but the fight turned when the two began gesturing at each other to bring the leather. Barberena used the opportunity to land a beautiful left hook before finishing his opponent off with knees and punches on the ground. Barberena was grappled to death by Colby Covington in December, but he remains a fighter who has the ability to turn the lights off on the feet. The 27-year-old moves to 13-4 in professional MMA with the impressive victory.
Matt Schnell    UFC    Flyweight
Matt Schnell lost to Hector Sandoval via KO (punches) at 4:24 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night 108 in Nashville on Saturday.

Fantasy Analysis

Schnell came out strong in this one, but left himself undefended while trying to secure a submission from the bottom, resulting in Sandoval hitting him with hammerfists for the finish. While the punches that finished him likely weren't a picnic, it seems odd that a few short shots would be able to knock Schnell out cold. The 27-year-old was brutally TKO'd in his UFC debut against Rob Font in December, which may explain why his chin gave out so readily. Schnell is an action fighter who clearly has some ability, but it will be worth watching to see if he can take a punch in future bouts. He slips to 9-4 in professional MMA as a result of the loss.
Hector Sandoval    UFC    Flyweight
Sandoval defeated Matt Schnell via KO (punches) at 4:24 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night 108 in Nashville on Saturday.

Fantasy Analysis

The fight opened with a furious pace that saw the two competitors trading punches in the clinch like Pride FC fighters. Sandoval caught a kick and went for a takedown, and was able to slam himself free as Schnell wrapped the neck for a guillotine. Schnell looked to be trying to switch his hips for a submission attempt while on bottom, but Sandoval didn't miss a beat, posturing up and landing a succession of hammerfists to close the show. After getting starched by Wilson Reis in his UFC debut, Sandoval has now won his last two fights. He carries a 14-3 record in professional MMA.
Kiichi Kunimoto    UFC    Welterweight
Kunimoto is scheduled to fight Warlley Alves at UFC 110 on June 11 at the Vector Arena in New Zealand, Danny Segura of MMAFighting.com reports.

Fantasy Analysis

Kunimoto -- now 35 years old -- owns a 3-1 record in his UFC career but hasn't stepped foot in the Octagon in over two years, with his last fight ending in defeat at the hands of Neil Magny in February of 2015. His competition, Alves, is on a two-match losing skid of his own since starting his MMA career with 10 straight victories. The winner will officially get back in the winning column.
Warlley Alves    UFC    Middleweight
Alves is scheduled to fight Kiichi Kunimoto at UFC 110 on June 11 at the Vector Arena in New Zealand, Danny Segura of MMAFighting.com reports.

Fantasy Analysis

Alves is on a two-fight losing streak since beginning his career with an unblemished 10-0 record, where his last defeat came in November of 2016 when he lost a unanimous decision to Kamaru Usman at UFC 100. Kunimoto, who's now 35 years old and hasn't stepped foot in the Octagon in over two years, could be exactly what Alves needs to get back on track.
Brad Tavares    UFC    Middleweight
Tavares will face Elias Theodorou in a middleweight bout at The Ultimate Fighter: Redemption Finale on July 7 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Fantasy Analysis

Tavares is 2-3 in his last five bouts but the losses came against respectable opponents such as Robert Whittaker, Tim Boetsch and Yoel Romero. Statistically, Tavares may be the one with the advantage in this fight. While he absorbs more strikes per minute (2.49 to 1.68), his takedown defense of 75 percent far exceeds Theodorou (44 percent), while the two sport near-identical marks in takedown accuracy (32 to 28 percent). This bout is one to keep an eye on as both fighters are closely matched.
Elias Theodorou    UFC    Middleweight
Theodorou will face Brad Tavares in a middleweight matchup at The Ultimate Fighter: Redemption Finale on July 7 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Fantasy Analysis

Theodorou comes off two consecutive wins to give him an edge over Tavares, whose record shows equal wins and losses dating back to 2014. However, this encouraging momentum Theodorou is perceived to have is minimum because of his inactivity over the last two years. While he has racked up unanimous decisions in his last two fights, this next match may prove to be a challenge for the young fighter.
Michel Quinones    UFC    Lightweight
Quinones will make his promotional debut against Jared Gordon at UFC 211 on May 13 in Dallas, MMAFighting.com reports.

Fantasy Analysis

Quinones, an 8-1 American Top Team product, will take on a younger fighter that will be making his promotional debut as well. The two will help set the stage for a card headlined by two championship fights in the UFC's heavyweight and women's strawweight divisions.
Jared Gordon    UFC    Lightweight
Gordon will make his promotional debut against Michel Quinones at UFC 211 on May 13 in Dallas, MMAFighting.com reports.

Fantasy Analysis

Gordon is a 28-year-old prospect who previously competed under the Cage Fury banner, and was found on Dana White's 'Lookin' for a Fight.' Five of his 12 professional victories have been by knockout, though being Renzo Gracie Jiu-Jitsu product, his grappling is likely formidable as well. He'll face an opponent in Quinones that owns an 8-1 profession record, and will be making his UFC debut as well.
Daniel Omielanczuk    UFC    Heavyweight
Omielanczuk will face Curtis Blaydes on July 8 at UFC 213, Shaun Al-Shatti of mmafighting.com reports.

Fantasy Analysis

At 34 years old, Omielanczuk enters the heavyweight bout sporting a 19-7 record. The Polish fighter will look to get back on track after dropping his last two fights. Though Omielanczuk has been with the company since 2013, his window to make a meaningful impact on the heavyweight title picture is beginning to close.
